Single on a Saturday: Thrice as nice

So it's winter ....right....sort of I guess. It's technically winter and this past weekend was the Roundhouse Craft Beer Fest...Winter edition. My third time at one of the best beerfests...so far. With an extra entrance and no line for the washrooms, it is in the top running for the best beer fest.

A lot more brewers this year...and some true crafters. It was a refreshing site to see considering how many craft beers are getting swallowed up by the bigguns. Left Field seemed to have quite a line up...they were offering marshmallows...not sure how that worked, but they ran out so I didn't go to their booth. My top choices for this year...as I sort through my coasters (the only records of what I like):
Yum..WeeHeavy!

Highlander Brew Wee Heavy 8%....damn right...it's dark, but not heavy. I'm not a fan of dark beer, this one had me fooled. It was just all around full and delicious.

Niagara College Brewing Program...they had a few different things. I had a half of all and enjoyed the trip.

Redline Brew out in Barrie had a very energetic way....and tasty libations too! My drinking crew and I are planning our brewhouse assault ;)

Honestly...there really are too many to list. It's just nice to try something different. You know you want to be a part of the fun. Besides, it supports the Toronto Railway Museum!

Be on the lookout for next year....tix go on sale in December and sell out in hours!  For more info check out their fb page: Roundhouse Winter Craft Beer Fest 2016 ....There is a summer edition to this fest, but...nothing beats drinking outdoors in the winter. ....although I did take my coat off to dance and felt no cold, but still...it's winter right.

Single on a Saturday: Dinosaurs and Rugby Players

Well it’s the summer and to celebrate I hit up the solstice party at the ROM. It was the theme for this week’s Friday Night Live.  (If you haven’t heard of it, look it up). To start, I decided to go dressed for a sundowner in this mighty find from HonestEd’s

…I have no problem with letting people know I paid $3.99 for a hot summer dress….

We pre-purchased tickets- which is highly recommended for this event- and only stayed in line for a short time. I know I’ve said it before, but this is a great time for $14!! Live bands, DJ’s and you can tour around the museum. Crazy  good times. I think the best part is I can regulate my drinking by buying a limited number of tickets and then leave around 10:30pm thus avoiding the drunken state of affairs that 2am in a bar brings (even though we did end up pub hoping on West Queen West afterwards).

My Hot Date ;)
I cannot promote it enough. Next Friday is the Pride themed party.

So that was Friday night…then came Saturday. Not much to say about Saturday. I had tickets for a Canadian Wolverines Rugby game at Lamport Stadium. I think everyone had free tickets to this thing and the stadium still was not full…of course there still seemed to be a nonsensically long line for everything. We waited 20mins in line for drink tickets (after waiting 15mins in line for washroom) and then left. It was not worth sticking around for unless we’d be able to BYOB.

I gotta say one main thing about this: as much as I support alcohol free events, I don’t attend them. I like to drink and the I pee and I need a venue that supports this. Unfortunately, this game had none of that. I was not even interested in getting settled and flirting with the otherwise decent ambiance. Shame on that!

…and they gave free tickets for the next game. Hmm… I probably won’t be attending that…

Single on a...Friday: Night at the Museum

It could not have been a better night. Drinking amongst dinosaurs. It really made me see the museum in a whole new light. For those that are not in the know, I went to Friday Night Live at the Royal Ontario Museum.

I wish I had been going to these sooner. It's a fun time with a nice diverse crowd. Drinks were only $6 and you bought tickets in advance so the bar was pretty quick. I don't think I've been to the museum in a few years. This was a great comeback.

It was like a nightclub...for stylish nerdy types. Odd....but good fun. The DJ was awesome, the crowd was well behaved and the men were moustached up and in decent attire. The ladies put some effort into their wear too...but in different ways. There were prom dresses and jeans.

Good times had by all!! Might I also point out it is a very social pick up joint...only on for a limited time!! Check out the site: http://www.rom.on.ca/en/activities-programs/rom-friday-night-live
